Antibiotic assay disks
For determining the type of causal agent of infectiousdiseasesand for checking their sensitivity to antibioticsandchemotherapeutic agents in vitro by means of the inhibitionzonedetermination method. The antibiogram allows rational andselectivechemotherapy. The test disks are coated withchemotherapeuticagents, placed on the inoculated nutrient agar andincubated. Thesize of the inhibition zone is a measure for theeffectiveness ofthe substances.
